We are seeking community input on a proposed steel processing facility at 155 Mersey Road, Bradfield.
Background
The proposal relates to a 4.189 hectare site in Bradfield, within the Aerotropolis Core Precinct in the Western Sydney Aerotropolis. It is located within the Liverpool local government area.
The surrounding context of the site comprises primary production and undeveloped land. The broader precinct is anticipated to be redeveloped in coming years as a new employment-focused metropolitan centre with an industry focus on advanced manufacturing, research and development, and industry-led education facilities.
As part of this careful approach to planning for the future of the site, HillPDA have been engaged to undertake community consultation. We welcome this opportunity to work closely with the community to share information about the project in its early stages and invite your feedback.
What is being proposed?
The proposed development seeks to provide a new employment-generating steel processing facility to meet the growing demand for reinforced bars across NSW, particularly in western Sydney. The proposed development will secure the long-term operations of Fine Steel on land designated for such industrial development, creating a state-of-the-art facility that will allow for continued growth into the foreseeable future. The proposal seeks consent for:
- Demolition of the existing structures on-site
- Earthworks and site preparation works
- Construction and operation of a steel processing facility across two buildings
- Construction of a road along the northern and western property boundaries and construction of vehicle crossovers
- Associated landscaping, infrastructure and servicing works.
